Common Signs of Wildlife Activity
Wildlife will usually leave signs that they're in your property. Understanding these signs will help facilitate early detection, limit potential damage, and prevent larger infestations from occurring.
Some early signs may include hearing scratching, scurrying, or thumping sounds in walls, ceilings, or attics, especially at night. These types of noises can be caused by squirrels, raccoons, or rodents.
Unusual smells can also be a warning sign. The accumulation of droppings, urine, or nesting materials may create a strong odor that persists even after the animals have left. You may notice torn insulation, shredded paper, or damaged wiring as animals search for nesting materials or chew through surfaces.
Outside the home, look for disturbed trash cans, gnawed entry points, or tracks near vents and crawl spaces. Birds, bats, and raccoons often enter through gaps around the roofline or vents, while rodents can fit through holes as small as a quarter.
If you notice these indicators, it's best to have one of our technicians inspect your property. They can confirm the type of wildlife present and develop a treatment plan that helps protect your home from further damage.
